How do I combine rewards or customize my pledge with add-ons?
When you click the green “Back This Project” or “Manage Your Pledge” button (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/productofgir/gir-tongs-and-whisks/pledge/edit), it’ll show a variety of pledge tiers to choose from. Click any one of those, and you’re set to receive the items listed in that pledge.
If you’d like to add more items from the GIR collection, you can adjust the Pledge Amount to reflect the sum total of the pledge tier and the additional items / other reward tiers you want. Available items and prices are listed in the “Rewards” diagram on the campaign page and also at https://gir.co/calc. There’s a lot to choose from! When you adjust your pledge, the pledge tier and its description won’t change - just the dollar amount. You don’t need to (and can’t, actually) note which items or colors you want at this stage. But don’t worry: we have a system all set up to take care of it.
After the campaign, we’ll send a survey that will allow you to select the items and colors to which you want to allocate those dollars.

I'm trying to select multiple rewards, but I'm unable to. What gives?
The Kickstarter platform won’t allow you to literally select multiple rewards per se, but you CAN combine the dollar amounts of any rewards or products from the add-ons menu at https://gir.co/calc. You’ll leave your reward selection at the singular “base pledge” and once the campaign is over we’ll send out a survey inviting you to allocate the additional funds to the desired items.

When do I select colors and tell you where to ship everything?
We’ll be sending a survey shortly after the campaign ends. As part of the survey, you’ll confirm any add-on selections, choose colors for all of your fun new kitchen tools, and provide a shipping address so we can deliver the goods.

Are you making these products in any GIR original/legacy colors?
Not for now—original GIR colors may make an appearance for these tools somewhere in the future, but for now our 2019 color palette is red (slightly more saturated than our original, by backer request), navy, and slate. Whenever we can add to the mix or introduce something totally new, we will! But what we’re guaranteeing for campaign backers is red, navy, and slate so we can hit our November delivery target.

Are these products dishwasher safe?
Absolutely yes! Everything we make is dishwasher safe and designed to last. In fact, the AISI 316 stainless steel used for the tongs puts them in a rarefied category of marine-grade corrosion resistance. Go ahead - drag ‘em behind your boat for a few weeks.

What is the pledge calculator I’ve seen mentioned on the project page?
We’ve created a pledge calculator at https://gir.co/calc that’s designed to help out with the add-on math for anyone who wants to customize their pledge with other GIR items (all production funded by contributions from this campaign). If you’d like to add items to your pledge, click “Manage Your Pledge” on the campaign page and manually update your pledge amount to the new total. Item and color selections will be sorted out in a survey after the campaign; it’s just the math for the pledge amount that you set up front.

Can you create a new reward level with X+Y+Z?
We’ve passing the torch to you! Choose the “Pledge $1 or more - Custom Pledge” tier (it’s at the very top of the rewards list) and set the dollar amount to reflect any item/reward combo you want. Prices are listed in the Rewards graphic at the bottom of the campaign page, and you can also see a comprehensive listing at https://gir.co/calc.

How do you calculate shipping fees? What are the charges for international shipping? How are you setting shipping costs for the Custom Pledge tier?
We pass on shipping costs subsidized where possible, and elsewhere without any markup at all (as a principle, we never make money on shipping.) International shipping costs have been precalculated for the $30+ reward tiers using the aggregated weights and sizes of the reward items at the best rates we can achieve. We did the same for the Custom Pledge tier assuming a 2lb package, which is our historical average package weight for Kickstarter shipments. Please note that if you add a significant number of items to your reward, or if you’re creating a Custom Pledge at the $1 tier and your products don’t add up to more than $25, there may be a modest incremental shipping cost. We’ll eat it as much as we can, and reach out directly to you if the cost of shipping your package is more than $10 over what we’ve budgeted for.

If I want add-ons, do I have to pledge the full amount now, or can I wait until the post-campaign survey is launched to add on additional items?
Either way—whatever is easiest for you! Add now by combining existing pledge tier amounts or using the calculator at https://GIR.co/calc to set a pledge total, or do it later if you don’t mind two different transactions. Regardless, the item and color selections etc. will happen in the post-campaign survey so you don’t have to worry about that part quite yet.

Will I be able to add on spatulas, flips, and anything else from your website at the KS prices on the survey? And would they be any color choice or select ones?
Yes! You can add anything else from our catalog, at backer-only prices. We’ll make every color we have in our warehouse available - for just about every classic GIR tool, and all the new ones we’re launching here, that’ll include at least red, navy, and slate. But many products will be available in additional colors from the GIR back-catalog, including the “full rainbow,”, the “core 7,” and any special edition colors we have left, like 2019’s mint and coral tools/lids, and the grape-vine-burgundy-navy bottle stopper sets. If we have it in stock, we’ll make it available to backers.

I pledged for the Utility Set (or Starter Set / Tongs 2.0 Set / Kitchen Drawer Set). Is there an option to swap/choose a ________ instead of a ________?
Sure thing. We have three pretty good options for a scenario in which you want to swap a lower-cost item into your pledge tier (e.g. swap in a wire masher in place of a perforated masher):
1) Keep things at your chosen set, and if you decide you want to swap your ___ send us a DM with a note. We’ll jot your name down and refund the difference after the campaign.
2) Keep things at the ___ Set, and use the extra pledge credit toward another GIR item once you’re in the post-campaign survey flow. We’ll allow backers to swap tiers at that point and be fairly free with how they allocate pledge dollars.
3) Create a Custom Pledge using https://gir.co/calc as a guide (for example, the Utility Set with a wire masher instead of a perforated masher would add up to a $67 pledge in the Custom tier).

Can you explain how the nylon tong tips are attached to the stainless tongs? Is there any gap between the nylon (is it a nylon cover?) and the stainless underneath where food/bacteria could build up or is it somehow a solid connection? Or remove-able cove
The nylon blades are comolded on to the steel, so they won’t be removable and there won’t be a gap—at least, not a significant one by any measure. Our intent was to make these feel as much like “one piece” as we could, with due consideration given to the nylon material thicknesses needed for comolding (in other words, the nylon has to be thicker than the steel but we haven’t left any open pockets where nasties could grow/hide). One way to imagine it is that the nylon has been “melted” on to the steel; the connection is fairly seamless. On the top/outside, the surface transition is almost totally smooth - you can run your finger from the steel to the nylon with only a small bump and no gap. We used the inside/underneath to “cheat” the nylon in a direction where it wouldn’t be as visually or functionally noticeable; there’s a couple millimeter lip that’s easy to clean and tucked up inside the u-turn shape of the steel arms. That gives us the necessary thickness for comolding, which in turn gets the credit for creating a seamless, non-removable connection.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
